Edna Deme Long time Livermore resident Edna Oliver passed away peacefully on Saturday June 25th, 2011 at the age of 94. She was born Feb. 11, 1917.

Edna was at home surrounded by her family, including her husband of 76 years, Robert Oliver.

A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, she was blessed with the following family members who comforted her in the last days in both body and spirit. They include three daughters: Joan Burton (Bruce), Linda Crawford (Marvin in spirit) and Donna Governor (Eddie); eight grandchildren: Mike Crawford, Debbora Ramus-Torres, Teresa Sanchez, Tess Bradley, Daneal Breitenstein, Teri Sorkin, Sarah Burton and Christopher Williams; four step-grandchildren: Bonnie Burton, Scotty Governor, Shawn Governor and Shane Governor; eight great-grandchildren: Jessica Civitello, Garrett and Jacob Torres, Judah and Levi Breitenstein, Bruce and Keith Bradley, Halen Sanchez and one unborn great grandson that is due August 4th; three step great-grandchildren: Angelo Gersolimo, Samantha and Issac Governor, and one great-great granddaughter Kelli Lynn.

Edna was very active in the schools and community that her children were in, this began as a lifetime member of PTA with the Oakland School District and served over 35 years in a variety of levels of leadership with the San Francisco Bay Area Girl Scout Association. As wife of a member of the Livermore Pleasanton Elks Lodge, Edna participated in the Emblem Club which supports many community outreach programs. While attending Oakland High School, Edna met and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Oliver. They were married in Carson City on June 16th, 1935. They lived in Oakland until 1969, and then moved to Livermore. Edna enjoyed many family and friend's gatherings, including camping, fishing, time spent at their family cabin, and parties at their family home.

Edna Deme Oliver Edna loved to bowl, and was an active league bowler up into her mid 80s, including receiving "Bowler of the Week" at the age of 78 with a high game of 191. For years she looked forward to watching All My Children, Wheel of Fortune, and the A's Baseball games. She loved to play cards, and looked forward to playing cribbage with her family at the Elks Lodge on Friday nights (She won the very last game that she played on Friday, June 10th). As a matriarch of the family, Edna will be missed but never forgotten. She was a woman who always smiled and was appreciative of ever moment spent with her family.

But it is her family that wants to say "thank you....thank you... thank you..." Our family was, and is, truly blessed and will carry her spirit and the lessons she taught us as we continue our journey through life. She was an angel in body and now in spirit, and we will love her now and forever.
