Grace passed away peacefully on May 12, 2013. She was 93. Family was always the most important aspect of her life. For over 60 years she was the beloved wife of John Logan Owdom, who predeceased her in 2003. She was the loving mother to Helen Cryer (William) and David Owdom (Deborah). She was the adored grandmother, "Nonny", to Brett Cryer, Melanie Cryer, Natalie Owdom, and Charlotte Owdom. She was the dear aunt to Sherry Marks and Robert Carlson.

Grace was born in Oakland and was always proud of her Swedish heritage. She graduated from Oakland High in 1937, and attended Merritt Business School. She was a secretary for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and later for Travelers Insurance Company.

Grace Goranson OwdomGrace and John made Alameda their home for over 50 years. Grace was active in the Twin Towers United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and belonged to a women's circle. She was a member of the Adelphian Club of Alameda. She also earned her 50-year pin from Eastern Star. Grace and John loved to travel and took many cruises together. Grace enjoyed reading, gardening, going to plays, and watching old Hollywood movie musicals. She was kind, generous, very loving, and will be missed.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held Friday May 24th at 11:00 AM at Twin Towers United Methodist Church, 1411 Oak Street, Alameda, CA. Donations in her memory can be made to Meals on Wheels, Red Cross, Twin Towers United Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice .
