Alvera Kahn

Alvera Kahn Alvera C. Welsh
Aug. 19, 1927 - Apr. 1, 2012
Resident of Rossmoor

Alvera, or more commonly referred to as just "Auntie", passed away after a brief struggle with an illness. She was born in Oakland, CA and resided in several cities around the Bay Area until eventually spending her retirement years in the Rossmoor Community, Walnut Creek. Her husband, Willis Welsh, father, Edward Kahn, mother, Dora Kahn and brother, Burnell Kahn, preceded her in death. She leaves a daughter, Karen Michelle Welsh of Eugene, OR and grandchildren Rosemery, Azuree and Jaron and great grand-daughter Isabella. She will be greatly missed by nephew, Stephen Kahn, nieces, Marty Crooke, Denise Ohanesian, Susan Duran, several great nieces and nephews.

Alvera, a Stanford graduate, always kept up with Cal/Stanford games, even in her final days wanted to know "who won". She enjoyed golf, bridge, jazz, her computer club and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, AAUW and Widow & Widowers Group, but spending time with family and friends was her greatest pleasure. She talked of traveling to Europe as one of her fondest memories. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice or to the American Cancer Society in honor of "Auntie".
