John was a professor emeritus from California State University, Hayward. He was born in Denver, Colorado, on September 12, 1927. His family would move to Oakland, California where John would eventually graduate from Oakland High School. He still participated in the many reunions for his class. John would go on to graduate in 1951, from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in counseling, when it was the only UC campus. he would go on to earn a master's degree in recreation from the University of Illinois. His career in recreation would take him to the City of San Fernando and Del Norte County. He would eventually return to the Bay Area, where he taught recreation at CSU Hayward for 25 years. Jon was an avid reader and would research many articles about the Civil War. He even claimed a family relationship with General Philip Sheridan. He enjoyed his rounds of golf every Saturday at Franklin Canyon Golf Course, and would continue to take lessons for many years at the Montclair Golf Course. He always cheered for the 49er's and Giants. He really enjoyed this year's bragging rights on the Giants World Series win. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial get together will be held on Thursday, December 22 at the Castro Valley Community Center, located on Lake Chabot Road from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. Anyone that would like to share a personal remembrance is invited to attend.
