Cherrill Pingree Cherrill (Cherry) Marion Harvey April 1927 ~ Dec. 2010 Resident of Moraga Cherry passed away peacefully. A loving and caring person, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cherry was born in Ogden, Utah, and raised in Oakland. She attended Oakland High until 1945, and then the University of California, Berkeley, and Graduated with an AA in History with honors, Phi Kappa Delta in 1946. She was very devoted to the raising of her children and enjoyed working at all of their schools, including ten years as an assistant at Del Rey Elementary School, and years assisting at Maxwell Park Elementary, the cafeteria at Campolindo High School, and later as a volunteer at Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek. She and her late brother Bob, were born to the late Veda and Spencer Pingree, and the beloved wife for 64 years of the survived James Orion Harvey. Cherry will forever be remembered by her devoted children Robert, Todd, Jill, and Matthew, as well as her beloved grandchildren Jane, Ruth, Conor, Ronan, and Marlena, and great-grandchildren, Odin and Phoebe, along with her extensive family and many friends. Cherry loved to care for her garden, and particularly her roses. She was the hub of the family, creating an warm and loving environment for everyone to always come together, cooking many delicious meals, and encouraging everyone to pursue their dreams and maintain their ideals. Service, for close family only, will be at the Chapel of the Chimes, Saturday, January 22, with a memorial and reception for family and friends at 12:30pm at residence 6015 Auburn Ave., Oakland, CA 94618 (925) 890-3480. Flowers can be sent to this address. The family requests any donations can be sent to the Disabled Veterans Charity, American Cancer Society , or the American Red Cross in her memory.
