Earl Simpkin Earl "Hap" Simpkin Apr. 10, 1927 - Oct. 6, 2009 Resident of Danville Earl Peter Simpkin was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents, Joseph an Lillian moved the family to California where he attended Oakland High, served in the Navy and then went on to graduate form the University of California, Berkeley - Hap was a true Cal Bears fan, always! Earl was married to his loving wife, Audrey for 58 years and together they raised three sons. He was in the insurance business for over forty years and a long time member of the Rotary Club of Walnut Creek. Hap loved sports and was very active in San Ram on Valley football and baseball with his sons and grandsons. He was an Eagle Scout and served as a troop leader at St. Isadore's Church in Danville. His great joy was sailing in San Francisco Bay and the Caribbean with his many friends. He also enjoyed skiing in Tahoe and fishing the streams and lakes of the Sierras, especially Dinkey Creek. Hap will will deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Audrey and three son, Scott, Steven and Robert; daughter-in-law, Tina; granddaughter, Serena Hegarty and grandsons, Steven, Jr. and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Justin and Kayla Hegarty; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:00 am. A reception at the church will follow and everyone is welcome. Any donations to your favorite charity or the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.
