James Stockholm James W. Stockholm, Sr. Sept. 5, 1927 - Mar. 2, 2012 Resident of Orinda James "Jim" Stockholm, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, March 2, 2012. Jim was born to James S. and Hazel L. Shelley Stockholm on September 5, 1927. He grew up in Oakland, graduating from Oakland H.S. in 1945 [sic]. He then attended College of Pacific (now University of Pacific) in Stockton, CA, graduating in 1948. His first job was in retail sales at Hagstrom's Food Store. The next 30 plus years, Jim was a food broker for Cumberson & Co. and J.J. Morris & Co. After retiring in the early 1980's, he supported and volunteered at Miramonte High School in Orinda, up to his passing. He met his future wife Afton Wignall, at the Broaday Bowling Alley in Oakland, in 1951. They married in Oakland on November 3, 1951. They had two children - Deborah "Debbie" Kay (born 8/1952) and James William Jr. (born 3/1955), both born in Oakland. Jim moved his wife and daughter to his "forever" home in Orinda, CA in Aug, 1953. He was there for nearly 59 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife and both parents. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Wolff and her partner in life, Bill Nelson, and by his son James and his wife, Sandy. James Stockholm Also surviving him are: his grandchildren, Shelley Monroe and her husband, Bodie, and James Nevins: his great-grandchildren, Bryant "Hudson" Monroe and Jovie and Jack Nevins; his caretaker and best friend, Maria. The other loves in his life were: the SF 49ers, season ticket holder since 1946, SF Giants/Oakland A's, Miramonte High School, music and animals.

Please join his family in a celebration of his life on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 2pm, held at the Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church, 10 Moraga Valley Ln., Moraga. A reception will follow at the same location. In his honor, we ask family and friends to dress casual in his favorite colors - 49er red & gold or Miramonte H.S. - green & white.
