Rosemay Battersby Rosemay Riddell
Jul. 24, 1936 - Jul. 9, 2017
Danville

Rosemay passed away at home after a valiant battle with cancer. She was raised in Oakland, the only child to Fred and May Battersby. Rosemay went to Oakland High School, where she met and fell in love with Jan R Riddell. They married the day after her high school graduation and were happily married for 63 years. Rosemay was a devoted mother to Jay Riddell (Susan) and Renee Riddell Medeiros (Nelson). She also had four grandchildren that she cherished: Monique, Jason, Ryan and Nicholas.

Rosemay BattersbyRosemay was very detail oriented; she was an excellent stenographer, spell-checker and typist, and had won several titles for speed and accuracy. She retired from Chabot College in Hayward, where she was the secretary to the head of the Counseling Department. After retirement, she used those skills to plan many vacation trips, across the United States and the world. She and her husband, whether accompanied by friends, family or going solo, truly enjoyed their travels wherever they went.

Rosemay was a fun, vibrant woman who will be missed by all who knew her. We will be celebrating Rosemay's life with friends and family at her daughter's home on July 29, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Hospice East Bay, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choosing.
