Howard Van Wood (Woody) Nov. 26, 1935 - July 4, 2011 Resident of Danville Howard Wood (Woody) passed away at home, after a brief illness with cancer. He was born in Merced, CA and at the age of five moved to Oakland. Woody graduated from Oakland High School in 1954. He served for 6 years in the U.S. Army Yukon Command Alaska. Woody enjoyed a 46 year career with the University of California at Berkeley. He had a wonderful gregarious personality and was known to have never met a stranger. Woody will be remembered for his love of life and how much he enjoyed entertaining friends and family at "Club Danville".
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sara Jane, stepdaughter, Julie Plummer (Robert) of Saginaw, MI, stepson, Steve Moore (Heather) of Renton, WA, 5 grandchildren; a sister, Betty Waite of Northport, MI, two nieces and one nephew. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hope Hospice for their kind and loving care. A celebration of Woody's life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
