Richard Parker

Richard Parker Richard F. (Capt. Dick) Parker 1939 - 2009 Richard entered into this life on December 12, 1939, in Fresno, CA to Dorothy and E.C. Parker. He returned to our Lord on July 24, 2009. He was raised in Oakland, CA and attended Oakland High School. He was a friend and admirer of Gary Owens and that encouraged him to follow his dream with a career in broadcasting. He worked as a disc jockey for many years. He then worked as a technical engineer for Channel 17 for 36 years. Richard had three siblings, Kathy Clair (Bob), Bill Parker (Judy), and Linnie Johnson (Cash). Richard was a wonderful father to his three children from his first marriage to Becky Parker: Jeff Parker (Linda), Susan Canterberry (Troy), and Robyn Klassen (Scott). In 1995 he married Carole Zungre Parker and became a loving stepfather to her three children, Greg Smith, Kelly Hedlund, and Steven Smith. He loved being a grandfather and was "Papa" to T.J., Joshua, Derrik, Jack, Ava, Linsie, Jillian, and Travis. He was reborn in 1975, and cherished his relationship with our Heavenly Father. He shared his walk through life with Jesus and with the people he came in contact with. He loved being an elder and deacon for his church. To elaborate on the richness of his life, with limited words, is impossible. His memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. Sleep well Captain...you will be missed!
