Former Resident of San Ramon James C. Downing died November 15, 2008 in Castro Valley, CA at the age of 63. Jim was born in Pacific Grove, CA and lived his entire life in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jim had an entrepreneurial spirit and developed real estate and many small businesses throughout his career. His primary business was The Spa Broker, a successful hot tub company with stores throughout the Bay Area. Jim touched many lives with his gentle spirit and positive outlook on life. He loved being outdoors and was an avid tennis player in his youth. In his later years, he was never happier than when he was walking the links with his golf clubs, family and friends.

Jim is survived by his beloved partner of 18 years, Judy Long; his father, Earle Downing of San Ramon and his devoted sister, Diane Sloan with her husband Jim of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by his niece, Shelley Ponder with her husband Jerry and their children Ryan, Jacquelyn, Janee and Andrew; his nephew, Michael Fredrickson with his wife Wendy and their children Austin and Makenna, all from Houston, TX. He was predeceased by his mother, Virginia. Jim was also a loved member of Judy's family, including Judy's son, David Long and Judy's daughter, Jamie Hora with her husband Paul and their sons, Thomas and Joseph along with Judy's many brothers and sisters.
