Linda Rose (Lavelle) Martin passed suddenly from this life at Auburn Faith Hospital on January 5, 2008 at the age of 62, and is now in the loving arms of her Lord.
She was the youngest of seven children born to Joseph and Bertha (Roper) Lavelle in Hamilton, Missouri. She leaves behind her loving husband of 42 years, Larry Martin of Weimar, Calif., her son, Daniel Martin, daughter-in-law Aimee Martin and grandson Seth Daniel Martin (the love of Grandma), all of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also mourning her loss is brother-in-law Terry Martin of Nevada City, Calif., her brother, Jim Lavelle and his wife, Louise of Venice, Florida, her sisters, Betty Stewart of Burleson, Tex., and Millie Carhart of Benicia, Calif., and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Linda will also be missed and remembered by her many beloved friends from high school and "walking group," her dear associates from Gottschalk's in Auburn, her Calvary Chapel and BCS Bible Study groups, her wonderful neighbors, and all of her many close friends she made during her short lifetime on earth.
Linda was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who possessed a passion and zest for life every day! She had an infectious smile and wonderful laugh that would brighten the spirit of every person she met and every room she walked into. I will miss the mornings we spent together, interacting as she read and studied her Bible. She would share a special verse or passage with me each day. I will miss her lunchtime phone calls and her evening homecomings. I treasure every moment we spent together and will miss her positive attitude.
Linda enjoyed working in her garden and envisioned with pleasure her latest improvement. She, with the help of friends, loved bringing life to her new and established plantings, and eagerly anticipated the growth and glory of her front and back yards. She loved to relax in front of a woodburning stove or outside in the gazebo. She marveled at the awesome beauty of the moon and stars, and enjoyed entertaining her friends and family. She loved decorating her home, holidays, cooking, canning, as well as camping and boating on Rollins Lake.
Linda will always be remembered for her gracious, generous and loving spirit. She was a tireless volunteer whose life's mission was to be of service to others. She was passionate about community organizations, especially Operation: MOM. She devoted herself to glorifying her gracious Lord, and belonged to Calvary Chapel of Auburn and the Women's Bible Study group. She lived a full and wonderful life, will be missed and in our hearts forever!
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Lavelle, infant son Christopher Daniel Martin, sisters Francis (Lavelle) Bettencourt and Barbara Ann (Lavelle) York, mother Bertha (Lavelle) Sikes, and brother W. David Lavelle.
To honor her wishes, Linda was interred at New Auburn Cemetery on January 10, 2008, and a Celebration of Life in her honor was held at Calvary Chapel Auburn on January 12, 2008.
If desired, donations are respectfully suggested in Linda's name to be made to Operation: MOM, Placer County Group, P.O. Box 515, Auburn, CA 95604-0515.
