Myles Hernandez HERNANDEZ, Myles Christopher -- Age 42, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, died November 16, 2000, after an extended illness. An accomplished musician, Myles conducted several ensembles in the Twin Cities, including Symphony of the Lakes, Bach Society of Minnesota and the Wayzada Community Church Choir.

Myles is survived by his mother, Shan, of Oakland; and his father, Raul, of Miami, Florida. Myles leaves behind many devoted friends, colleagues and musical admirers.

Myles was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1958 and moved to California with his family when he was 5 years old. He went through Oakland Public Schools, graduating from Oakland High School in 1976. He received his BA from Haverford College in Pennsylvania, his Masters Degree in music from Yale University and continued his graduate studies at Indiana University and the University of Iowa. He began conducting in the Twin Cities in the early 1990's.

A Memorial Service will be held on December 18, 2000 at 4:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 650 Alma Ave., Oakland (near MacArthur and Park Boulevards). The family requests that memorial gifts be sent to Project Open Hand, 730 Polk Street, San Francisco, CA 94109 for the 'Oakland Kitchen'.
