Barry Frederick Ferris Died December 25 at the age of 72. Mr. Ferris was a resident of Oakland for 57 years. He was born August 8, 1939 to Bill and Lois Ferris. Mr. Ferris attended Piedmont and Oakland High Schools, and CAL and SF State. He was a High School teacher and Coach for 31 years in Oakland- 25 of those years at Oakland HS. He coached Varsity Basketball, Baseball, Football, Soccer, Track and Field and Golf. After retiring and moving to Oakhurst in 1995, Mr. Ferris managed the Wawona Golf Course and worked as a sports reporter for the Sierra Star. He was an avid sports fan who loved play golf and long corner jumpshot. Mr. Ferris is survived by wife of 50 years, Pam Ferris; daughter Rebecca; sons Ryan and wife Carol; Scott and wife Kerry; and Mitch and wife Laurie; grand children Joseph, Sydney, Isabel and Rory; Sister Lynnea Bell and brother William Ferris Jr. A burial and gathering will be held at 2 P.M. Friday Jan 13 at Oak Hill Chapel in Oakhurst. A memorial reception will be held Sunday Jan 15 at 2 p.m. at Scott's Restaurant in Oakland.
