Cleo Beitelspacher Resident of Oakland Cleo Beitelspacher passed away peacefully on January 14, 2010. June, his beloved wife and constant companion of 65 years, was by his side. Born in 1913 on a homestead farm in South Dakota, Cleo had 9 brothers and sisters. After graduating from Northern State Teachers College, Cleo taught kindergarten through eighth grade in a one room schoolhouse. Prior to World War II, Cleo moved to the Bay Area where he met his wife. He worked for the Berkeley Radiation Lab during the war and then went on to earn a teaching credential from San Jose State University in Industrial Arts. Cleo spent the next 20 years teaching Industrial Arts at Oakland High School in Oakland, CA. His fortitude, resourcefulness, and curiosity about the world served as an inspiration to all who knew him. Cleo is survived by his wife June, children Lynne and Dale, son-in-law Ron, daughter-in-law Pam, grandchildren Ron and Jennifer, and a great-grandchild, Logan. A memorial service will be held at Park Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 4101 Park Boulevard, in Oakland, CA, on Sunday, January 31 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Park Boulevard Presbyterian Church or to your favorite charity.
