BARBARA "BOBBIE" MARCH Died peacefully at her home on December 29, 2004, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was 58. Bobbie will be dearly missed by her husband, Rick, her daughter and son-in-law, Elise and Bret Stewart Stastny, and her grandson, Perrin; as well as her four sisters, Sheila Kuhn, Mary Roller, Pat Dolan and Midge Sharkey. Bobbie spent most of her adult life teaching high school age students about science and about life. She was a teacher at Oakland HS for 28 years covering biology, physiology, chemistry and physics. During her career Bobbie was a mentor teacher, a science department chairperson and Head of Heads, the lead department chairperson in the school. Most importantly Bobbie touched the lives of many students who went on to great successes in their own lives. She loved to teach them and to be their friend and their mentor. Bobbie was also a master handicrafts person and holiday decorator. She created all kinds of beautiful, engaging and funny crafts from plastic canvas and thread, and used them to decorate inside and out during all the major (and minor) holidays. Her house is known to legions of fans in North Berkeley. And Bobbie was a world traveler, always in search of an opportunity to commune with nature and to view the many wondrous creatures that share the earth with us, in their natural habitats. She took pictures and left nothing behind. Bobbie will be missed by all who have known her. She was a very special person. At her request there will be no services. Donations in her name to the American Cancer Society or the Sutter/VNA Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
